Faithfulness to the Teachings of the Roman Catholic Church
Every year, our faculty and staff willingly express their faithfulness to the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church by publicly signing the Oath of Fidelity. We promise to uphold the teachings of Jesus Christ in four main ways:
To preserve
the Deposit of the Faith
Sacred Tradition and Sacred Scripture form one sacred deposit of the word of God, committed to the Church. The apostles entrusted the "Sacred deposit" of the faith (the depositum fidei), contained in Sacred Scripture and Tradition, to the whole of the Church. "By adhering to [this heritage] the entire holy people, united to its pastors, remains always faithful to the teaching of the apostles, to the brotherhood, to the breaking of bread and the prayers" (CCC 84).
At St. John Bosco Academy, in the area of faith and morals, we are called to instruct our students only what is in alignment with what we have received through the teachings of the Magisterium of the Roman Catholic Church.
To remain in communion with the local Catholic Church: the Diocese of Boise
As a private school founded and operated by lay Catholics, we are committed to respecting and collaborating with the leadership and direction of our local Pastor and our Bishop here in the Diocese of Boise. We welcome and desire the leadership that our local Catholic Church provides us and wish to continue to work in patnership with them in order to better understand and meet the needs and concerns of the families we serve.
To live the Common Discipline of
the whole Church
St. John Bosco Academy's faculty and staff strive to align their personal and professional lives with the faith and morals of the Catholic Church, and to encourage students to follow the guidelines prescribed by the Church in the Code of Canon Law. In every facet of our lives--spiritually, intellectually, morally, socially, physically, and emotionally--our faculty and staff endeavor to be living examples to our students of how to be fully human and to live the Christian life with integrity and authenticity according to the example of so many Saints who have gone before us.
To learn how the Holy Spirit has led the Church
over the centuries
The Church has a wealth of wisdom in how best to provide direction, insight, and understanding regarding the Christian life. We are committed to adhering to the directives and to this well-spring of knowledge in order to insure that each classroom reflects true Catholic culture. It is imperative that we present every student with the correct information and that we provide the proper formation in order to bring about their transformation in Christ.
